Machine Operator/Packer

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Machine Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of warehouse operations and mechanical systems, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery while maintaining high standards of quality control. This role is essential in supporting our production processes and requires a proactive approach to materials handling and equipment management.

Hours

• Training: Dayshift, Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/week (first 4 weeks).
• Shifts thereafter: 36 hrs/week, rotating days and nights (12-hour shifts).

Duties

• Operate various types of machinery in accordance with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
• Handle materials effectively, including loading and unloading goods from lorries.
• Utilise warehouse management systems for tracking inventory and managing stock levels.
• Engage in shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and quality checks.
• Perform picking and packing tasks to prepare orders for dispatch.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues.
• Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and enhance productivity.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in materials handling techniques, including heavy lifting as required.
• Familiarity with forklift operation is advantageous; certification may be required.
• Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues effectively.
• Experience with quality control processes to ensure product standards are met consistently.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
